What is autism?
Autism is for me to see only a common term for a wide range of symptoms. For an individual to have these symptoms can be caused by many widely differing disparate reasons. It is therefore with great regret that I see that the established Danish health-care apparently do not follow the global development and often just diagnose the individual as an autist and only are in possession of one treatment, placement in a special institution without adequate resources and competences to improve the individuals functionality.

The rapid increase in numbers of children who receive a diagnosis within the autism spectrum exclude that autism is a purely genetic problem. Such an increase indicates that there must be external influences which in many cases are causing the autismen. An explosive epidemic as we see here may can not be purely genetically caused.
In 1980, it was estimated that 2 to 5 in 10,000 people were given a diagnose within the autisme spectrum. On medical school, autism was called "a very rare, but interesting" mental disorder which we should not expect to encounter because it is so rare.

Today it has been estimated that 1 in 150 children have a diagnose within the autisme spectrum.

In 1980 the diagnosis standard was called DSM-III. This diagnosis standard was considered too restrictive so in 1987 came the revised DSM-III-R, which did the the autisme spektrum more wide and thus contributed to an increase in the number of individuals with a diagnose within the autisme spectrum. This standard was then in 1997 again made more restrictive with the standard DSM-IV. Looking at a trend over the number of individuals with a diagnose within the autisme spectrum in the said period, we can quickly conclude that the shifts in standards did not cause the massive increase.

I support the hypothesis that it probably is a combination of a (genetic or disease provoked) weak immune systems or genetic defect where the individual is exposed to greater external influences as for example heavy metals, preservatives, E numbers, dyes, pesticides, vaccinations, food allergies , Food intolerance, etc. Here you can read one of the many interesting articles about the subject.
We may now have reached a point where the human immune system can no longer cope with the massive external influences mentioned above?

I am convinced that the vast majority of individuals who receive a diagnosis within the autism spectrum can be treated so effectively that they will be able to get their functionality considerably improved.

The solution is early intensive ABA therapy and a thorough analyse of the child's physical condition. There should be tested for food intolerance, food allergies, heavy metal levels, Vitamin and mineral deficiency,a thorough examination of the gut, oxiativ stress, etc.
Depending on the analysis results there should be interviened with diets, vitamin and mineral supplements, biomedicine, etc.

The fact that we bring all together in one big "autism pot" and from this conclude that it is a purely genetic disability and simply place the child in a special institution environment without further action, seems to me absolutely ludicrous and totally without logic.

Of course, one should conduct a thorough physical examination of individuals with autism.

The reality in Denmark today is that is not done, but it is up to the parents to identify a private clinic and it is the parents who must pay for any physical examinations.
